Last year young people from all over the UK applied to us at ALOVE for money from our Youth Participation Fund. This fund was set up so that young people could identify an idea/programme/event etc. that they were passionate about bringing into being and successful applications were given money to make this happen!

We will be profiling some of the corps that were given money through the fund over the next few months on our website so that you can see all the great things have been happening!

On Saturday 3 May young people from all over the UK engaged in our I’ll Fight Day. This was an opportunity for youth groups to share the gospel through practical acts of kindness in the heart of their local community. Whatever the groups did was totally up to them - depending on what they were able to do and what they thought was needed in their community! If asked why there were doing it the idea is that because God is love and that they wanted to demonstrate that love! We have got a little snippet of what some people got up to below.

Thank- you so much to everyone who came along to our Big Day Out at a very sunny Thorpe Park on Saturday 28th March. We loved every minute of the day and we hope you did too? To help us in our planning for future events, we really need to hear exactly what you thought about the day. If you could spend 3 minutes filling in this very short survey we would really appreciate it!

Can you believe it, ALOVE is 10 years old today!

20th March 2004, the launch date for ALOVE, a moment when the research, focus groups, interviews and dreams came to reality. But this was more than a name change or a neon logo; this was an attempt to buck the trend of declining numbers of young people engaging in church and more specifically The Salvation Army. It was the beginning of a journey!

In the two years of research before the launch of ALOVE three questions were continually asked and one answer was repeatedly given:

In recent years we have focused on a theme to help you journey in a particular direction through some of the resources that we produce.

Therefore, 2014 will be the year for discovering more about our God who calls himself ‘I AM’ and how ‘I am’ able to be a part of his mission. We will do this by looking at three particular areas:-

Who is God?

We will learn about God through the significance of his name ‘I AM’ and how he reveals himself to us through the ‘I AM’ sayings of Jesus.

Who am I in God?

Christmas is fast approaching and one of the highlights of the Christmas season for many people is the beloved nativity play. You may be taking part in one yourself at your corps, or maybe you’re going to see a younger brother or sister take part in their school nativity. You’re always guaranteed a few laughs with kids falling off stages, the baby Jesus being held by the head, and children wandering off in the wrong direction.
