‘When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.’ Matthew 18:19-20 (MSG)
Ideas for praying with a friend:
Tell your friend one or two things that you would really value their prayers for, and listen whilst your friend shares with you. Take a few minutes each to pray out loud for the other person. Pray for the needs that your friend has shared, pray that God would be close to them, pray that God would bless them.
Look through a local newspaper together, or your church/corps newsletter. Cut out any article that catches your eye and lay these out on the floor in front of you. Take it in turns to pray for the situations that you have read about.
Go for a prayer walk together around your village/town/neighbourhood. Take it in turns to pray out loud as you walk (other people will just think you are having a conversation together!). Pray for God’s blessing on the area, for the people who live in the houses that you pass, for the teachers in the schools that you pass, for the shopkeepers / office workers in the high street, for all the local churches and for the success of any community projects seeking to work with those disadvantaged people.
